What Is HOME?

I. Home

Where do you feel safest? Where do you feel free to be?

A home is where you bring yourself, all the good in you, and even the parts that have yet to see the light, to find encouragement. You come home in pieces and leave restructured, reshaped, perhaps more resilient than before.

A home is where you rest. A weary sojourner, you come home to lay your head and gather the strength to go back out into the world.

A home is where you dream. In security and comfort, you can imagine the love of your Father, the great plans He has for you, and the extent to which He’ll go to see the dreams he planted in You fulfilled.

II. A Place to Be Known

We are a ministry of homemakers. We strive to create an atmosphere of comfort and encouragement that invites everyone to be known and loved.

We know that God is not afraid of real, raw intimacy. His ideal distance is uncomfortably close, and He wants to know every detail about us—what makes us thrive, what breaks our hearts, what tears down our walls. He is a God of connection. He wants this same connection for His children. The idea behind intimacy is that it spurs us to love and encourage one another. HOME is a place for the children of God to meet together and develop relationships that are honoring  to each other and to the God of intimacy. Our intentions are to encourage each other and grow together so that we are not only bound in love but can act out of the love established in our home community.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

II. A Place to Bring Others Into

We know that God desires us to be unified in love, and we will reach out in our surroundings and in our city so that others may be brought into this love.

The active part of HOME is this: that we engage in our city in order to bring others to the Home that God has for them. The power of God is activated when groups of believers step out of solitude and into the busy streets of oppression, brokenness, and darkness. We believe in fighting against the tendency to rest idly in comfort and security; there is a time for rest, and a time to break out of what’s comfortable in order to reach out to those who have yet to experience this love and comfort.

They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2: 46-47)

Here’s what we have for you at HOME:

  • Thursday Night Meetings- Thursday evenings at 7pm (starting January 18), we will gather at Boulder Street Church to worship, pray, and hear a message from Jordan Serio or other leaders and pastors.
  • Community Groups- Community groups are an opportunity for connection outside of just Thursday nights. They are designed to connect people based on interests, including photography, hiking, and food (tacos!). They will be held periodically as determined by each community group leader. You can find more information about community groups on Thursday nights.
  • HOME Kids- For parents of HOME, background checked volunteers will be providing childcare every Thursday night at the HOME meetings.
